Northwest Territories’ Provincial Nominee Program (NTNP) Nominated program helps strengthen the economy of Northwestern areas by attracting qualified persons to fill the lack of significant labor and promote business development. The nominated program can help employers in recruiting and retaining foreign workers and can help the foreign workers and their families to make North Western areas their permanent home
An application may be submitted under one of the following four categories:
1) Northwest Territories Skilled Worker Program
The NTNP Skilled Worker Stream enables the Government of Northwest Territories to nominate individuals who have received an offer of employment in a skilled position from a Northwest Territories employer. Applicants must have already worked in the position in the Northwest Territories for a minimum of six months.
2) Northwest Territories — Express Entry Stream
The NWT Express Entry stream is for Skilled Workers who have a profile in the Express Entry System; Foreign nationals who have been accepted into the federal Express Entry pool may be able to apply to this Express Entry Stream for Skilled Workers.
3) Northwest Territories Critical Impact Worker Program
This stream was created to assist Northwest Territories (NWT) employers address critical labour shortages that cannot be filled by local or Canadian residents. It is specifically designed to target workers in semi-skilled and unskilled occupations (National Occupational Classification Skill Levels C and D). In order to apply under this stream, foreign skilled workers must work in the same position for a minimum of six months and should be in compliance with their temporary foreign labor permit.
4) Northwest Territories Business Stream
The NTNP Business Stream is aimed at entrepreneurs who demonstrate the ability to start, acquire, or invest in an existing Northwest Territories business which provides or may provide economic benefit to the Territory and create jobs. Businesses in all economic sectors are welcome to apply; however, businesses that will introduce a new product or a product of significant benefit to the Northwest Territories are given priority.
